Easter 2026 Hutton Le Hole
What a cracking Easter weekend we had at Hutton le Hole with Sheffield DA! Nearly 40 units pitched up, and it was brilliant to welcome visitors from far and wide — Shrewsbury DA, Lancs & Cheshire DA, Chesterfield DA, and plenty of other DAs too.
Stormy start, sunny finish
The weather gave us a bit of everything. Storm David rolled through on Saturday night and kept us on our toes — there was a 2am scramble to take down the youth tents and a few awnings before they took off! Thankfully no damage done, and from Sunday onwards the sun came out and stayed with us.
Out and about
Most members made the most of the break with day trips over the weekend. Whitby fish and chips were a popular choice, along with visits to other local towns and villages around the North York Moors.
Saturday evening — quiz night
Back on site, we had junior activities in the village hall followed by Lee putting on a brilliant quiz in the village hall that had us all thinking (and laughing) well into the evening.
Sunday — Easter traditions
Sunday morning was all about Easter fun on the field with our annual egg throwing and egg rolling contests — always competitive, always messy. Although We had to pause briefly for a sharp hail shower, but it didn’t dampen spirits and the competitions carried on. The Easter Bunny even made a special appearance, leaving chocolate eggs for our junior members.
Sunday evening — Parade and judging
We were back in the village hall Sunday evening for the Easter bonnet parade and judging for the colouring and egg decorating competitions. This was followed by table quizzes and the youth having a lively game of “Little Willie”.
Walks, and Ice Cream
Monday morning saw a lovely 4-mile family walk, finishing — as it should — at the ice cream shop in the village.
Thanks to everyone who came, especially the stewards Andrew and Trish, Andy and Jane for making the weekend possible, and to all that helped, and made it such a memorable meet.
Same time next year?
