Parsley Hay, Darley Farm

Nestling high in the Peak District National Park, Sheffield DA's Parsley Hay meet site sits below the former Parsley Hay railway station on the London and North Western Railway. The station closed in 1967 with the trackbed subsequently converted to the leisure trails we enjoy today. Bring your own bikes or hire from the excellent cycle hire centre with cafe and shop.

Just 1 mile east of Parsley Hay site finds the prehistoric henge Arbor Low, a neolithic stone circle. In many ways this is our very own Derbyshire version of Stonehenge and historically very significant with the 50 limestone slabs suggesting a sacred site, although today these are no longer upright. The site is English Heritage, maintained on private land. Next to Arbor Low is a second significant site, the burial mound of Gib Hill. These sites are very well worth a visit.

For a treat, call by Tagg Lane Dairy where they serve award-winning ice cream from their own Jersey herd.
