Ashover is a historic village on the River Amber dating back to Saxon times, subsequently motioned in the Domesday Book, and reputedly the 17th Century scene of a English Civil War confrontation. Later, the Village became a centre for lead mining and quarrying. Today Ashover is a popular residential village and day trip destination.

The picturesque village is a popular destination for circular walks and enjoying a couple of fine pubs. To the east, for the more energetic, lies Ashover Rock (aka The Fabrick), a gritstone boulder offering a fine 4-county viewpoint towards Chesterfield, Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall.
Location
The North East Derbyshire village of Ashover lies just 4 miles to the south of Chesterfield and 4 miles to the north-east of Matlock.
