Ashford-in-the-Water: we came, we saw, we conkered

Despite the decidedly damp October weather and a last minute switch of field, an impressive fifteen(ish) turned out for Sheffield DA's annual photography competition weekend. A welcome weather window on Saturday revealed a beautiful view over the village of Ashford to the surrounding hillside and people ventured out and about for a stroll to Bakewell before returning to gather around the stewards' caravan for coffee and an impromptu conker challenge.

On Saturday evening Ashford Village Hall was the venue for the main event, Sheffield DA's annual photography competition with the 2019 categories of: Camping; Orange; Bridges; Agriculture; Family; "Off The Wall"and CCY/CCJ special category open subject. Category winners were decided after a couple of rounds of voting to resolve a tie, followed by a decisive round to determine the overall winner, with congratulations to Dave Lees for his imaginative "off the wall" entry.

Millie and Charlotte were deservedly rewarded for passing their CCJ test not only receiving CCJ certificates and badges, but also furry blankets to keep toasty warm.

Normal October service was resumed on Sunday as the rain returned to make for a challenging departure but after a bit of collaboration and even at one stage calling on the winch, everyone managed to get away safely.

Huge thanks to meet stewards, Brian and Donna for a superb job done.
