Winter update from the Chairman

Hi All

The end of camping season fast approaches with only two weekend meets left, but don't be downhearted as we have our Christmas Party and the Dinner Dance plus a winter walk to look forward to.

25th – 27th October – Torksey

This will be a regular weekend meet. Torksey Lock is a popular spot for walking, wildlife or leisure boating.  The Fossdyke Canal Trail is a recreational route running alongside the Roman canal between Saxilby and Lincoln and extends beyond to Torksey Lock.  The ancient city of Lincoln enjoys many attractions and Gainsborough is a short drive to the north.

The meet will be stewarded by Brian & Donna

1st – 3rd November Marton & Gate Burton. Halloween & Bonfire weekend.

This meet will be Sheffield DA’s 2019 Bonfire & Halloween meet (note the venue change from Torksey this year).  On Friday evening there will be Trick or Treating for the Juniors around the caravans, suitably dressed up in your best Halloween costumes. Can the juniors meet at the Juniors Youth Leaders caravans for 7.30pm. We will also be judging for the best decorated caravan for Halloween, with prizes for the winning entrants. The juniors will be helping to build the Guy on Saturday morning and we will also require help in building the Bonfire. Those that are willing to help, if we can get together near the fire area at 10.00am. Please wear suitable footwear clothing and a pair of gloves. We will also need wood for the fire so if you have any wood or paper that we can use please bring along The Bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm where soup will be provided by the DA. After the fire we will continue into the hall with a social evening, and a supper of Baked Potato with choice of fillings. A Halloween fancy dress competition open to all ages will be held, Plus prizes for the decorated pumpkins again open for all ages. We would also appreciate any donations of cans for the soup as well as buns, parkin, toffee etc. Unfortunately, we are unable to have fireworks this year due to the Club no longer insuring DA’s for firework displays, and the Land Owner requires a copy of our insurance certificate for verification. I hope you will understand the situation we find ourselves in and the steps we have had to take. We also request that no personal fireworks including sparklers and sky lanterns be set off over the weekend.

The meet will stewarded by Glynn and Wendy

Saturday 7th December 4.00pm to 9.00pm

Family Christmas Party – West Bretton Village Hall

We will once again be holding a Christmas Party at West Bretton Village Hall for all the family. Fun and Games plus entertainment from Keith’s Party Magic, (4.30 to 5.30) and hopefully a visit from that certain someone. The event starts at 4.00pm which gives those that would like to wander around the Yorkshire Sculpture Park plenty of time. There is no charge for the evening, but we will be making the buffet an American Supper. I will have a list of suggested items at the Bonfire Meet that will be helpful for the supper, please see me to put your name on the list. Also, can you please let Liz Milner, or myself know who will be bringing children (under 12) to the party, so we can help Santa plan to have enough presents in his sack. We will need the names by the end of the Bonfire meet. The bar will also be open for drinks in the village hall.

Saturday 25th January – Hallowes Golf Club Dronfield – Annual Dinner Dance

Our Annual Dinner Dance will again be held at Hallowes Golf Club, Dronfield. Tickets will be £25.00 each.

If you wish to go, please let Phil Emms or myself know at or before Marton Gate Burton or click here to leave us a message on or before 3rd November.
