Gerry Hawtin

Sheffield DA is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gerry Hawtin. We offer sincere condolences to Gerry’s family and his camping family in our DA, Leeds DA and across Yorkshire Region, where he was much loved.

The word ‘legend’ has been used in tributes To Gerry and Sheffield DA can testify to this, with so many of the close ties between Sheffield DA and Gerry’s beloved Leeds DA being directly connected to him, through his family or the CCY, of which we are sure that he would (and should) be immensely proud.

Gerry was a stalwart of DA camping generally, but never more so than the CCY - where he will always affectionately be known as “Grandad” Gerry to generations of CCY in Yorkshire Region and beyond. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all of us here at Sheffield DA.
